This angle grinder from DeWalt is unbelievably compact; not only in the body, but also up at the gearbox. It still manages to accept a full size 125mm or 5 inch diameter cutting/grinding disc. They have modelled this after an air angle grinder, which is where the safety paddle switch will feel familiar to some users.
The gearbox is small enough that you can grind inside corners at acute angles with almost as much access as a dedicated flathead grinder. The DCG404 has a substantial heft to it, which is surprising considering its small size. This is testament to the incredible brushless motor technology. They have the cooling with a rear intake and a forward exhaust, keeping the heat away from the user.
The motor is capable of 760 Watts of output power while being 28 percent smaller than an equivalent grinder. With that power comes the requirement for safety; and this tool has safety in spades. There is an electronic clutch that can shut off the tool as fast as possible when a pinch is detected. In normal use, when you release the trigger the wheel will stop in 1.25 seconds.
